Sense Versions
After test flying by the factory and test pilots around the world, the new plane is ready to be offered on the world market.
Optimization for the requirements of the FAI rules and for the maximum aerodynamic efficiency led to a design with a very specific layout of all internal components with few possible variations.
We have tested the plane in different weather conditions and found the optimum equipment for installation in the model.
We developed the best strategy for employing the model in various conditions based on our experience of testing and using Sense in competitions. Depending on the region and time of year, thermal activity, and other factors there is a certain understanding of the best practices for achieving the desired results with Sense.
We do not see a reason to ever exceed the flying weight of 2100 g; this weight corresponds to wind strength well above what is allowed by the FAI rules.
For wind speeds between 7-12 m/s the recommended weight range is 1700-2400 g.
For wind speeds between 4-7 m/s the recommended weight range is 1300-1700 g.
For wind speeds between 2-4 m/s the recommended weight range is 1100-1300 g.
Sense reacts strongly to ballast and requires careful attention to using ballast for achieving good competition results.
We made the structure of each Sense version with a large safety margin and any pilot can select an optimal set of models both for competition and for fun flying.
• FAI limit edition (ultra-light version)
Lightened wing, skins of 40/30 g/m2 high modulus carbon fabric, lightened spar. Lightened fuselage. Lightened tail feathers. Lightened tail pushrods. Motor PowerLine 1010 (Schambeck) or a similar gearbox- motors (75-80 gr ) weight/power direct drive Mega or other brand. Battery 650 mah 3-4 cells. Controller 35 Amps. Preinstalled ballast mount . Heavy ballast is not recommended, up to 100-300 g ballast is OK. During tests we loaded this version with 450-500 g of ballast in winds of about 9 m/s to see the limits of the model. We do not recommend that you do the same, but the point is that this version is sufficiently strong and in normal usage will not break from air loads. This version is optimal for early morning and evening flights, or for any days with calm winds and weak thermals when a small amount of ballast is sufficient.
Expected flight weight- 980-1030 g
• Light version
Wing skins 60 g/m2 spreadtow carbon on the center panel and 40 or 30 g/m2 carbon on the tip panels. Light spar, stronger than on the ultralight version. Light fuselage. Pre-installed ballast mount . Tail feathers with standard skins but hand selected foam cores for weight reduction. Motors – PowerLine 1015 (Schambeck), Leopard LC250-30 4040 with Reisenauer gearbox or direct drive XPower F2919/10, Mega 16/15/5 CE
ESC Controllers – YGE 35-40. Batteries – MyLipo 900 mah 30/60C 4-cell, Tattu 650 mah 75C 4-cell. Propellers – custom made 11×6.5 ,12×7.5 , 13×8. VM PRO Spinner 30 or 32 mm. Ballast made of 60 g weight sections. Normal ballast – 10 sections. or you can use the ballast from the plates made by yourself for the fuselage version with the ballast mount .
Normal application of the this version – morning, day, or evening rounds, wind up to 5 m/s. Beyond that it is more optimal to use the standard version, but it is possible to use Light version in stronger winds.
Expected flight weight- 1080-1130 g
• Standard version
Wing skins 60 g/m2 carbon fabric on the center panel, 60 g/m2 carbon on the tip panels. Stronger fuselage. Standard tail feathers. Motors- PowerLilne 1020/1025 (Schambeck), Tenshock EDF 1515 T-15 with Reisenauer gearbox or Leopard LC250-30 4040 with Reisenauer gearbox. Controller YGE 60. Batteries – MyLipo.de 900 mah 30/60C 4-cells. Propellers – custom made 12×7.5 ,13×8, 13.5×8. VM PRO Spinner 30 or 32 mm. Ballast 10-15 weight sections of 60 g each (15 sections with modifications of the attachment points). This version is for normal , strong day conditions.
Expected flight weight- 1250-1300 g
• Strong version
Wing skins 60 or 80 g/m2 carbon fabric on the center panel, 60 or 80 g/m2 carbon on the tip panels. Additional D-box layers and extra strong spar and kevlar leading edge strips. Stronger fuselage. Standard tail feathers. . Motors- PowerLilne 1025 (Schambeck), Tenshock EDF 1515-15 T or 13T with Reisenauer gearbox. Controller YGE 60. Batteries – MyLipo.de 900 mah 30/60C 4-cells. Propellers – custom made 13×8, 13.5×8 VM PRO Spinner 30 or 32 mm. Ballast 10-15 weight sections of 60 g each (15 sections with modifications of the attachment points). This version is for strong day conditions .
Expected flight weight- 1350-1450 g
Strong version GPS
Wing skins 60 or 80 or 120 g/m2 carbon fabric on the center panel, 60 or 80 or 120 g/m2 carbon on the tip panels. Additional D-box layers and extra strong spar , additional ballast camera in the center of the wing (500 grams) . Stronger 2.4 frendly fuselage. Mounting of the tail unit servos under the wing. Standard tail feathers. . Motors- PowerLilne 1025 (Schambeck), Tenshock EDF 1515-15 T or 13T with Reisenauer gearbox. Controller YGE 60. Batteries – MyLipo.de 900 mah 30/60C 4-cells. Propellers – custom made 13×8, 13.5×8 VM PRO Spinner 30 or 32 mm. Ballast 10-15 weight sections of 60 g each (15 sections with modifications of the attachment points). This version is suitable for light GPS racing and as a model for strong wind conditions. The maximum weight to flight 2500 grams is optimal for light GPS racing.
